Register an Agency for SAVE

SAVE is an online information service that allows federal, state, territorial, tribal, and local government agencies that grant benefits or licenses to verify an applicant’s immigration status or naturalized/acquired U.S. citizenship.

Agencies who want to use SAVE must register and be approved by USCIS.

Who Can Register for SAVE

Are you a federal, state, territorial, tribal, or local government agency that grants benefits or licenses?  And is your agency authorized by law to provide a benefit for which citizenship or immigration status verification is authorized?

You may be able to register for SAVE. Read the How to Register for SAVE information below.

Who Cannot Register for SAVE

Are you an employer seeking to verify the employment eligibility of your employees?

You cannot register for SAVE.  You may be eligible to participate in E-Verify.  See www.E-Verify.gov.

Are you an individual who is applying for a benefit or license?

You cannot register for SAVE.  To check the status of an existing SAVE verification case, visit uscis.gov/save/save-casecheck.  More information for benefit applicants is available at uscis.gov/save/for-benefit-applicants.

How to Register for SAVE?

Is your agency already registered for SAVE?

Before registering for SAVE, check the SAVE Agency Search Tool to see if your agency is already registered. Search Tip: Include related agencies in your search to determine if your agency is already authorized to use SAVE.  For example, local government agencies may be covered by an existing state agency agreement with SAVE.

Registering for SAVE

If you are a federal, state, territorial, tribal, or local government agency that grants benefits or licenses and you are not currently registered for SAVE, please send an email to SAVERegistration@uscis.dhs.gov with the subject line “Application for SAVE Registration [Insert Agency Name]” and provide ALL of the following:

  • Agency name and mailing address;
  • Official agency website (if applicable);
  • Agency designated Point of Contact (POC) for SAVE, such as a legal official or program official/representative, including name, phone number and e-mail address;
  • List of benefit(s), license(s), or other activities your agency administers that require verification of immigration status or citizenship;
  • Section(s) of law establishing authority for the agency to administer benefits or issue licenses and requiring or authorizing the agency to verify immigration status or citizenship; and
  • Estimated number of verification requests the agency will submit each year.

SAVE will review and respond to your email and inform you whether your agency meets the qualifications to register for SAVE and how to complete the registration process.
