TPS for Yemen Re-Designated and Extended for 18 Months; EADs Automatically Extended Through March 2, 2022

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas extended and re-designated Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Yemen for 18 months, from Sept. 4, 2021, through March 3, 2023.

Current beneficiaries who want to maintain their status must re-register July 9, 2021 through Sept. 7, 2021. Yemeni nationals and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Yemen may submit an initial registration application under the re-designation for TPS for Yemen and apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) between July 9, 2021 and March 3, 2023.

Given the time frames for processing TPS re-registration applications, USCIS has automatically extended through March 2, 2022, EADs issued under the TPS designation for Yemen that contain an expiration date of Sept. 3, 2021.

TPS beneficiaries presenting an EAD referenced in this Federal Register notice do not need to show any other document, such as a Form I-797C Notice of Action, to prove that they qualify for this extension. SAVE will be able to verify the continuation of an applicant's TPS using their recent TPS-related document along with their Alien Number or I-94 number. You may need to perform additional verification steps to confirm the applicant's TPS.

For more information regarding Yemen's TPS designation and re-designation, please refer to FRN document number 2021-14670, dated July 9, 2021.

For up-to-date information, please check USCIS' TPS webpage or call the USCIS TPS Hotline at 202-272-1533. (Please note that this is not a toll-free number.)
